Tar Heel born, Tar Heel bred -
Alaskan sworn, Yukon fed.
Arrived Skagway in 1974, returned for a couple summers, postponed work on a novel after college to crank up The Skagway News in 1978. Also created Lynn Canal Publishing and Skaguay News Depot & Books in 1987. Edited several books and working on a historical compilation: Skagway: City of the New Century - due out late 2011. Then back to that novel. One of co-founders of North Words Writers Symposium, and of a future writers and artists retreat in Dyea due to open in summer of 2013 or 2014.
